Our Hidden Gem is a forever, family home that embraces contrast and hidden elements of drama. It’s unassuming from the street and once you step inside there is an eclectic mix of old and new; light and shade; colour and monochrome; and straight and curved spaces.

Being small (just 4m wide) we used the exterior constraints to our advantage and got creative to transform what was considered only a three bedroom home into a generous, light filled 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom home. With three energetic kids, we focused our design around creating a sense of fun and play in the interior spaces and injected pockets of privacy and quiet into this compact little home so everyone has somewhere they can retreat to when they need some alone time.

A palette of natural timbers, linen, marble and handmade tiles has been used throughout the home to create a richly layered interior.

This little forever home is a place where these wonderful kids will grow up, it’s a home perfectly balanced for work, play and rest and it is a home to come together and celebrate as a family and with others.
